English Ivy can be very attractive in a landscape due to its ability to quickly grow around a structure or as ground cover.
However, it can also very quickly kill your trees. Once English Ivy gets out onto the branches of trees it chokes out the leaves, eliminating the tree’s primary source of energy.
In order to protect your trees it’s important to remove the ivy as soon as it is spotted. For larger, well established vines it’s best to cut them at the base and let them die off. Attempted removal of these large vines can cause damage to the bark of the tree, doing more harm than good.
